View from the place i was born!

Skywatch Friday
(February 18, 2011)

This is the normal view from the place i was born. I am just visiting this place once in a while now. This is the view to the Northeast, and the sun rises directly accross the bay to the right. The air is still clean of smoke and smog, and family closeness still observed, respect for other people and property still high.
In the big city where I live now, atmosphere and space are already displaced by the price of development. It is just maybe a matter of time before my birthplace will also succumb to development's 'false meanings'.   At the background, we can already see industries beggining to appear, communications towers appearing on destroyed patches of the natural landscape, big ships now anchor at portions of the bay where they dock for repairs, and the oil spillage starting to be seen on the shore. Effects and symptoms on micro-ecosystems cannot just be obviously seen but definitely there. Regulations in this country we strongly love is a bit far from excellent. In a little while, this place will not be as beatiful as the place i normally call HOME!

  1. It is always sad to see another piece of paradise eroded by humans.

    But these are beautiful skies.

  3. its a pity to note the place of beauty getting destroyed right before your eyes, what more is a place of your birth.
Perhaps the best thing you can do is record them & let the world know, Im very sure someone very powerful will take notice and able to do something before it gets destroyed.

  4. Try to enjoy it while it is beautiful and wide open and free. It's a wonderful haven so maybe the country will save it for a park.

  5. i understand your apprehensions. farmlands are converted into subdivisions. someday, there would be no public beach because developers took over.

    i love these serene photos.

  13. Andrea truly a paradise!I understand your concern with the mighty powerful who fill their pockets at the expense of Mother Nature and all that she provides.
I too recently relocated to a woodland community in my own country because urban development ..and all that it means was breaking my heart.
Ancient trees bulldozed down, green space disappeared ..animals losing their homes..for what..I could go on but I think you too are one with the earth.

  18. Thanks everyone for sharing with me these views of my beloved place. It is depressing when habitats of animals and habitats of memories give way to "false progress". My appreciation also for those who visit me only once-in-a while. For my regular friends visit, they already know my gratitude, and i normally visit them too.

Bom -this is in Mabini, Batangas

Naturegirl - yes we have the same sentiments! Let's hope more authorities will be more concerned and act wisely!

Photo Cache - tell me where that place is, i might have some skywatch there to post for you! I've been to most places in the country.

  19. Such scenic beauty Andrea! Face of the earth everywhere is being slowly but steadfastly destroyed in the name of progress and development. Enjoy it while you can, capture it for reminiscing later.

  20. thanks a lot nids for always keeping me in touch with my real HOME by your posts. it means a lot to me and really i'm always excited and looking forward for more. It saddens me though to think of what might happen with the never-ending developments that could change the God-given gift beauty of our place. You always make me homesick though. thanks again and keep posting.

  21. Dear Andrea, This post breaks my heart. It enrages me at the same time and feeds joy to my soul with that glorious sky!! If only all people were thoughtful in how they do business. Big business should not be allowed to ruin any paradises on this planet. I hope the citizens of your home will stand together and protest the destruction. Your photos are stunning! Brava!

  22. Carol - i'm sorry to have given you some not so nice feelings, but knowing you, yes it wont be fine. But our cultures differ so much, and i think conservation and thoughts for the future is not ingrained in our psyche as a people. Immediate gratification is maybe the foremost concern, and that is really depressing! This might break your heart more! ..i'm sorry!

  23. The colors in the sky in the tops photo are magical. With development seems to come lack of respect for the environment and other people.

  24. It is a lovely spot to make your first appearance! Hopefully, people will soon realize that destroying Mother Nature always comes with a price...thanks for stopping by at my SWF. Enjoy the week.

  25. So stupid of me not to have recognized the view. We used to go to Anilao a lot for diving.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Bom, you wont recognize it because it is at the other side of Mabini, coz Mabini is like a tongue, so at the opposite of Anilao. This bay faces the Batangas pier.

  27. This is such a lovely and nostalgic view. It must have been a very overwhelming and touching feeling to be able to, from time to time come back to your roots and view the horizon and the whole world from the place where you took the photos. If I have a chance to visit the Philippines one day, it shall be to this beautiful place.

  28. I loved this post ~ though there is a hint of sadness at the prospect of what the future may bring. Wonderful photos, Andrea. Oh, and I tried to answer your comment on my blog in the comments section!

  29. Ah, beautiful Batangas... Lucky you to be born in Paradise. But I share your anxieties about the future... The environment is still not winning the battle of competing interests. You did capture a peaceful sky!
