Critters, big and small

one of our dogs, in full pose

 when very curious

all of us love its fluffy and smooth behind

these are three of our always sleepy cats, who love sleeping on human bodies

...and can you guess what is this, another one of our pets?

I saw this last one only for the first time. It didn't skip my sight when it flew a short distance, displaying a lovely orange color of the underwings in flight. However, when resting like these it can successfully elude someone's gaze! It mimicked some leaves very well. I am sorry i don't know how to call it, i just know it is a moth, with its antennae unusually short and different.

  1. Masz ślicznego pieska i słodkie kociaki. Nieproszony gość - ćma, też jest interesujący. Pozdrawiam. *** You have a cute dog and cute kittens. Uninvited guest - a moth, it is interesting. Yours.

  2. Andrea,

Cute cats all bundled together like that. The moth might be some sort of sphinx moth, just a guess. We get sphinx moths on the siding under lights here in the summer perhaps 2-3 different ones. A lot of the guide books require the wings to be open to ID them. Oh, I hate the new word verification here...

  6. I'm so jealous, I don't have them in my house! I like your dog in front, behind and side as well. Is it a guy or gal? The cats are really cute and they must be the best of friends, being so close and hugging each other like that. The moth looks quite scary.

  16. I am very sorry guys about that verification word, but I don't remember enabling it! It seems like others who normally didn't have it suddenly have it in their blogs too, maybe they didn't put it intentionally too. I will remove it, and thank you very much for struggling with it.

  17. Cute pets, Andrea. Are they here in the city or in the province?

  18. Autumn Belle - the dog is just one of the 5, and the 3 kitties are just among the many. The oldest mother of them all goes to my sister's when she is pregnant, because she gets lots of food there, and then when about to give birth returns to our house for my mother's attention and caring. Then when the young kitties are ready to eat, she brings them one by one again to my sister's whose house is maybe 200meters away.

Bom - they are all in the province, where they are free to roam around. Here in the city i live in the 5th Floor, i don't have anything there except moths which came at night!

  20. Hehhee Andrea those cats do love to nestle in together. Your dog is so beautiful and I'm sure you're never done collecting up all that stray fur as his coat looks so fluffy.

  21. Rosie of leavesnbloom - hahaha, yes you are very very right. And you know the effect of that? My sister originally made the side of the house as their secluded area, however my niece has allergies and i always smell the lingering odor of the cement floor even its already clean. So my sister build a small house ~200m away which has a wide fenced area for the dogs and cats to roam around and play. She lives there with the dogs, but walk them to our home too once-in-a while. The cats which live with us have their own schedules also to go there, as their resthouse and restaurant. I think they think it is where they experience fine dining. They are friends with the dogs too! It is better also a bit away from our house as the dogs are not friends with mothers free-range chickens. Chaotic but funny!

  22. Wonderful photos, Andrea! What a shot of the cats all together!

I'm sure orchids at your show are more artistically displayed. I remember seeing some orchid photos on your blog a long time ago. Those were indeed stunning. Maybe in the coming years our displays will get better but as for the health of the plants, I think they are really good!:)

  24. Cute dogs and living in harmony with the cats! (or not) Your moth has a look about it that it is getting near the stage when it will pupate.

  25. Awww such lovely animals you have Andrea. We used to have 5 cats and 3 dogs but as they all slowly died and my kids left home we haven't replaced them.

  26. Hello Andrea, My comment would have made more sense if I said the moth in its resting position has the appearance of one in the pupal stage.
Definitely not what I said though, duh!
